Edward Bartek

ca. 1880

This fine violin was made circa 1880 by Edward Bartek, the brother-in-law of the renowned Hungarian maker Samuel Nemessanyi. It's a lovely Del Jesu model, having a dark and rich sonority with impressive volume.  Peter Benedek, the leading authority on Hungarian lutherie, believes that the wood used for the top derived from the same tree as other Nemessanyi violins he’s observed.  This violin comes with his certificate of authenticity. Condition is pristine.  LoB 354 mm.
